JOBE CONTINUES DOMINANCE AND KAY LEAVES WINTERNATIONAL RANKS WITH VICTORY

VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, NORTH CAROLINA

The Winternational Junior Series played its eighth event of its thirteenth season this weekend on two Tom Fazio designed layouts.  Saturday and Monday’s respective first and final rounds were contested on the Centennial Pinehurst No. 8 Course, while Sunday’s second round was contested on Pinehurst’s No. 4 Course.  Players were challenged by typical cold and blustery conditions for a weekend in February, but were greeted with mildly pleasant weather for the final round.

In the Junior/Senior Division, Andrew Kay of Pittsford, NY concluded his tenure with the Winternational Junior Series in impressive fashion braving the conditions and closing with a final round 34-36-70 on the Centennial No. 8 Course.  Kay, front runner for 2006-2007 Player of the Year honors in his division, will be a Freshman on the University of Maryland Men’s Golf Team next year.

In the Freshmen/Sophomore Division, Brandon Jobe, of Fayetteville, NC continued his dominance by winning his fourth consecutive Series Event.  Jobe, fired rounds of 81-76-76 to finish with a total of 233 strokes and position himself, similar to Kay, to take Player of the Year honors in his division.  In runner-up position was Douglass Johnson of Pinehurst, NC followed by Grant Withiam and Charlie Gormly, both of Greenwich, CT.

Brooke Kochevar won the girls division after posting an impressive 96-90-90--282 total .
